On the 26th January, our second day in Jaipur we met Sonu in his tuk tuk. Wow, what a stroke of luck, because over 5 weeks later and our stay this time in India is coming to an end, we realise that we could not have managed this wonderful holiday without all his help. We were last in Jaipur 14 years ago and Sonu personally took us back to sites we wanted to visit again and to several that we have visited for the first time. He also helped us to organise train and plane tickets for our various excursions. Even while we were away, he phoned us to make sure we had arrived and everything was OK. While Sonu drives a tuk tuk, he has been more like a tour operator and best of all, he has been our friend.. Thank you Sonu. We have no hesitation in recommending him to any future travellers to Jaipur and we will certainly contact him before we return next.
I met Sonu by chance during my 6 night stay in Jaipur. He was friendly, honest and very accommodating to my needs as an Aussie tourist abroad. A couple days before I met Sonu I fell sick from some dodgy street food, and was feeling quite ordinary and vulnerable.. by some miracle Sonu suggested an Aryuvedic massage and I took him up on it. So after 90min and 3000rupies later I was feeling sooo much better (Kerala Aryudeda). India can be very intense and one runs the risk of becoming jaded and skepical with regards to the dozens of people that will inevitably approach you in order to sell you something. Sonu however genuinely wants to help, and I feel blessed to have met him along my journey.

Sonu nos fue a buscar al tren cuando llegamos a Jaipur. En ese momento nos hablo y nos dio la bienvenida a la ciudad con una amabilidad superlativa algo que necesitabamos ya que en ese momento no confiabamos en nadie sentimos un gran alivio con su presencia y su gran sonrisa. Sumado a este tiene una personalidad muy simpatica incluso diciendo chistes en español. Nos ofrecio mostrarnos la ciudad por un precio muy accesible nunca nos quizo cobrar un centavo de mas y nos preguntaba constantemente si estabamos satisfechos si necesitabamos algo mas. El tenia planeado algunos recorridos, le pedimos visiitar algunos lugares mas y accedio felizmente. Contraten su recorrido ustedes no se arrepentiran y pasaran un excelente tiempo conociendo los mejores lugares de la ciudad. Como extra sonu nos indicaba en que lugares debiamos tener cuidado de no hablar con otros etc. Le damos 10 puntos!!!

Sonu a very genuine and honest individual, which isn’t always the easiest to come by in India. He went way out of his way to help us search for very specific textiles and took us to shop after shop with patience and was still cracking jokes the whole way. He is one of those people who radiates joy and it his presence only brightens the experience that India has to offer. Thank you for all your help Sonu!
Sonu made my time in Jaipur very special. Apart from being my guide, he was someone that I enjoyed getting to know on a personal level, and he became one of my favorite people that I met during my two weeks in India. Thank you, Sonu!
